Hi everyone;

I've been working on a new machine and now have it running. I call it the "Sidewinder". It's a scratch built 4x4. The goal from the start was to create an inexpensive 4x4 from off the shelf components and by that I mean staying away from chromolly and prefab aftermarket items and stuck to standard, round, square and rectangular tubing and flat sheet metal. I wanted to make it very strong, very maneuverable, and very cool to watch and even more cool to ride in. It also had to be very aggressive with some unique features It’s not often that one exceeds what one expects but for me this machine has!

Here are some of the features:
  • Easy to find welding shop supplies
  • Rear Steer, VERY COOL. That makes it very maneuverable and also gave it the name "Sidewinder", with the ability to move down the road almost sideways.
  • The frame is sleeved and hydraulic, I can change my wheelbase from 112" to 130", and that is really Cool when both axles are in holes or ruts. Plus, the 130" wheel base feels much more secure when your nose is pointed up 60 degrees and it just looks cool doing it!
  • Another cool feature wasn't so inexpensive. I wanted the cushy ride of air so I installed computer controlled air bags. Wow, is it CUSHY!, plus, you can pitch up, pitch down, pitch right, pitch left, or all up or all down. Very, Very Cool! Air ride is not necessary and coil springs would work just fine, but I’m not giving my Air Ride up for anything !
There were lots of unknowns when I started the "Sidewinder". I wanted a simple suspension and I made it a basic "Y" type and had no idea how it would work or ride. I thought it might drive like an old tractor, but to my delight it drives great. In aviation talk, "hands off" and the ride is nothing less than Cadillac!

I have videos available now of the Sidewinder. The first one is a look at the Sidewinder for $14.95. I show and talk about it and its features and then show it in action.

If you are a Gear Head like me and want to see the inner workings, you'll want the second video, "How I built the Sidewinder" for $34.95. It is "A look at the Sidewinder" Plus over an hour showing the Sidewinder being assembled with lots of building information and close ups . This is one Fun and Capable 4x4!!

Either may be purchased by printing our Order Form and mailing it to us with your Check or Money Order.
